Because modern browsers synchronize animation frames with your operating system display compositor, the frame delivery rate directly reflects your active monitor refresh rate and graphics pipeline stability.
Why does my 144Hz monitor show 60 FPS in the browser?
This commonly happens when Windows or macOS display settings are defaulted to 60Hz, when hardware acceleration is disabled in your browser settings, or when a secondary 60Hz display forces compositor V-Sync downscaling. Opening your operating system display properties and verifying that the high refresh rate profile is active will resolve this.
