A dead pixel is a transistor permanently turned off, appearing as a black dot on light backgrounds. A stuck pixel is locked in an open state on one subpixel (red, green, or blue). A hot pixel has all three subpixels permanently on, appearing as a bright white dot on dark backgrounds.
