Why Frame Delivery Rhythm Matters

Human visual perception is exceptionally sensitive to temporal cadence. Even minor variations of 3–5ms between consecutive frame presentations create visible judder during horizontal panning or fast gaming motion.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is frame pacing?

Frame pacing is the cadence and rhythmic consistency with which successive animation frames are delivered to your display. Perfect frame pacing delivers every frame at identical millisecond intervals.

Why does motion feel juddery despite high average FPS?

If a 60 FPS video delivers two frames in 8ms and then waits 25ms for the next, the average remains 60 FPS, but the human eye perceives obvious micro-judder due to irregular frame pacing.

How do VRR and adaptive sync improve frame pacing?

G-Sync and FreeSync synchronize monitor refresh scanout cycles directly with the completion of each frame, eliminating the queuing delays that cause pacing judder.
