Diagnostic Inspection Checklist

When inspecting your display, look for these common hardware artifacts:

  • Dead / Stuck Pixels: Black dots on solid white/red/green/blue, or permanently illuminated dots on black fields.
  • Backlight Bleed: Irregular light spilling from display corners on dark screens.
  • Color Uniformity: Shifting tint or dirty screen effect (DSE) across neutral gray fields.
  • Shadow & Highlight Clipping: Inability to distinguish dark steps (0–4 RGB) or bright steps (250–254 RGB).

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the FPSRate Monitor Test suite?

The FPSRate Monitor Test is a comprehensive display diagnostics platform providing guided step-by-step visual calibration patterns across dead pixels, backlight bleed, color purity, contrast separation, gamma 2.2 curves, and sharpness.

How should I prepare my monitor for testing?

Clean your screen surface with a microfiber cloth to remove dust spots, set your display to its native resolution, use standard lighting, and switch to Fullscreen mode.

What is the difference between Quick Test and Full Suite?

Quick Test runs an essential 8-step inspection (solid primaries, black, white, gray, gradient, checkerboard). Full Suite expands to 12 steps including fine 16-step grayscale ramps, near-black shadow detail, near-white highlight separation, and gamma 2.2 alignment.
